Happy Holidays!
I'm the biggest fan of Ramen (or Japanese noodle in broth) and I could not miss JCC's Ramen workshop where you learn everything about well none other than.. Ramen.
This is a five part series and I went to the first one. The chef talked about the different aroma oils that could go into ramen to give it a flavor boost. My favorite was the scallion oil with chicken broth. Check out the cool dropper they used to put the oil in. Great idea!
For 4th July, I went over to my friend Tomomi's apartment to see fireworks. She has a direct view!!!! *jealous!*
Wonderful Tomomi kept kept the food and drinks flowing. Her husband Masa even made fresh homemade sorbet and pizza! Three Wows to the great hosts.
Happy Independence Day America and hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th weekend!
Check out all the yummy food that everyone brought!
As I was walking in midtown manhattan during lunch hour, and I heard someone yell, "Free korean food!", so my tummy gravitated towards the voice and a nice korean lady in front of a food truck motioned me to get in line if I wanted a free soy sauce and sesame oiled marinated pork, otherwise known as L.A Galbi. MARINATED PORK? KOREAN FOOD?FREE? why not! I got in line that had only 5 people ahead of me.
While waiting in line, the nice korean lady proceeded to tell me that the organizer, Taste of Korea NYC, was the brainchild of Korea's first lady who wanted to bring more awareness of Korean food to the New York community. Every day for a month, the food truck parks during lunch hour in a midtown or downtown location and offers free food to hungry new yorkers.
Before I got my Galbi, the lady passed me a booklet, a kind of guide to various korean restaurants in New York. At the back of the booklet were coupons that I could use at the various korean restaurants. : )))) I know what kind of food I'll be eating for the next month!
If you're interested here's the link where you can see where the truck will be for the rest of the week. Hurry because the free food offer ends at the end of this week.
